Coastal Decor Trends 2026–2027: Pearl Whites & Ocean Blues

Updated October 21, 2026 · Published design directions and a considered look ahead, styled with Chirimi Craft Co.

A coastal home can begin with a single object: a shell tray catching the afternoon light, a sculptural goblet on a shelf, or an abalone box beside a favorite necklace. The most interesting rooms give these small details enough space to be noticed.

For 2026, soft whites and visible craftsmanship offer two useful starting points. Looking toward 2027, published forecasts introduce more expressive blues, grounded greens and a stronger emphasis on the physical character of materials. Here is how we would bring those directions into a home using the Chirimi collection.

1. 2026: soft whites with depth

Pantone selected PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a white neutral, as its Color of the Year 2026. That is one reference point for a palette, rather than a rule for every room. [1]

Our coastal interpretation is to layer pearl, ivory and pale stone with a surface that changes in the light. Mother of pearl adds variation to a white room: its reflections can read warm, silvery or softly pink depending on the shell and the setting.

The Large Mother of Pearl Shell Tray brings natural variation to a pale palette.

Try it at home: place the 24–28 cm decorative tray on a light wood console or a dressing table. Keep the arrangement simple—a few rings or a small accessory—and let the shell surface remain visible. Add woven linen nearby to balance its sheen.

2. 2026 into 2027: craftsmanship you can see

Heimtextil’s 26/27 trend presentation, developed with Alcova under the theme Craft is a verb, explores the relationship between manual making and digital design. Its emphasis on material texture and irregularity is a useful starting point for a more personal interior. This textile forecast is inspiration for our styling, not a certification of our products. [2]

For Chirimi, that means making room for a shell’s individual pattern and the detail of a hand-finished edge. A piece does not need to match every other object in a room to belong there. Repeat one color or finish, then let the shapes differ.

A raised silhouette and small shell fragments give the Shell Mosaic Pedestal Bowl its decorative presence.

Try it at home: use the 25 cm pedestal bowl as a decorative focal point on a sideboard. Pair its rounded form with a rectangular book or a low, plain object. The difference in height creates structure without needing a crowded display.

3. The 2027 color forecast: ocean blues and grounded greens

WGSN and Coloro identify Luminous Blue as their Color of the Year 2027. Their spring/summer 2027 palette also includes Meadowland Green and Clay; the autumn/winter 27/28 palette includes Deep Green and Russet. These are published forecasts from those organizations, not a universal prediction of how every home will look. [3]

Our styling take is to keep the large surfaces quiet and introduce depth through a small accent: a blue textile, green foliage or the changing blue-green reflections of abalone. The shell pieces shown here are naturally varied; they are not exact matches to a forecast color standard.

Try it at home: style the goblet as a sculptural display piece on a bar cart or console, with clear glass and a plain ceramic object nearby. For a richer evening palette, add navy linen or a dark green backdrop while keeping the surrounding arrangement restrained.

4. Our 2027 outlook: useful objects with a personal presence

Heimtextil’s 27/28 presentation considers how interiors balance functional demands with human experience. One of its directions, Hyper Presence, focuses on sensory materials, texture and the character that develops through use. [4]

Our interpretation for smaller home accessories is straightforward: choose an object you enjoy seeing and give it a place in your routine. A jewelry box can provide storage while also bringing color and detail to a bedside table. A decorative tray can organize small treasures without making a room feel formally staged.

The Aurora Dragon Abalone Shell Jewelry Box combines small-item storage with blue-green iridescence.

Try it at home: place the jewelry box on a bedside table with a simple lamp and one book. Echo a tone from its shell in a cushion or artwork elsewhere in the room. That small connection can make the arrangement feel intentional.

A simple way to bring the look together

  • Start with a calm base: pearl, ivory, sand or pale wood.
  • Choose one shell focal point: a tray, sculptural goblet, pedestal bowl or keepsake box.
  • Add one deeper accent: blue, green or a warm earth tone.
  • Mix surfaces: balance luminous shell with matte ceramics, linen or wood.
  • Leave space: fewer objects make each natural pattern easier to appreciate.

Use the decorative pieces as described in their product listings, and follow the care instructions for each material and finish. Natural color, shape and pattern differences are part of the character of shell.

Discover the Chirimi Craft Co. collection and choose the piece that suits your home now—and still feels personal when the next season arrives.
